Plasterboard is a versatile interior lining material widely used across New Zealand building sites for internal walls and ceilings. Recent improvements to the product have made it lighter, stronger, and more flexible — with better screw head bedding, cleaner cut-and-snap edges, and a consistently quality surface finish thanks to strengthened paper facing.
Plasterboard Thickness Options
Standard plasterboard is available in 10mm and 13mm thicknesses. The 10mm variant suits wall applications, while the thicker, more rigid 13mm is recommended for ceiling use — particularly in New Zealand's wet and humid conditions where sag resistance matters.
How Plasterboard Is Used
Plasterboard creates a homogeneous finish when joints are stopped with compounds and tape, leaving a flat surface ready for painting or wallpaper. Taper Edge (TE) profiles allow recessed joints for a seamless flat finish, while Square Edge (SE) profiles provide a flat substrate suited to skirting or cove installation.
